The latest deal for an Oregon business: Planar sells to Chinese company for $157 million

This buyout closes a chapter in what was once Oregon’s most promising new tech sector. Planar Systems, a holdover from Oregon’s once thriving electronic display industry, plans to sell the company to a larger, Chinese display maker for $156.8 million, a 42 percent premium over Wednesday’s closing price. It’s the latest in a string of acquisitions over the past month for some of Oregon’s largest and best-known businesses.
